How to read a Dodge VIN
- The 2027 Dodge Charger is built at Windsor Assembly, Ontario: WMI 2C3 (FCA Canada, passenger car), plant code R. Because it is a passenger car, position 4 codes only the restraint system (C = active belts, front air bags, side restraints in all rows). Source
- In the 2027 guide, the Dodge Durango uses WMI 1C4 (FCA US, SUV) and plant code C, Jefferson North Assembly in Detroit. Its position 4 is a restraint-plus-GVWR band: R = 6,001-7,000 lb, S = 7,001-8,000 lb. Source
- Positions 5 to 7 code brand, model, drive, body type and trim, and Dodge codes start with D. For example, DBC is a Charger Daytona R/T coupe and DJ_ marks the Durango. Source
- Position 8 is the engine. 2027 Durango codes: G = 3.6L V6, T = 5.7L V8, 9 = 6.2L supercharged V8, J = 6.4L V8. On the Charger, K = 400V battery-electric and P = 3.0L turbo inline-six. Source
- Dodge's door certification label includes a Month-Day-Hour (MDH) number giving the month, day and hour of manufacture, and the label's bar code is the VIN. Source
